Re Friday:
Surfmatt and I were discussing the T-Spot for Friday 8.30-9. Looks like there may be a touch more swell than originally expected. Could be good for Connies Reef a touch earlier.
I'm getting over a gnarly flu thing so could do without a bitch early start. How's about MP at 0830? Alternatively we could just charge the T-Beast regardless.

Re: 23/24/25 March
Just looking at the winds, got a fair bit of south on Friday so I'm swayed more towards MP than anywhere. Polzy might struggle with the South in the swell. Porthtowan will be ace but a hike.

Re: 23/24/25 March
I think there's a wee lull on Friday. 3ft 11sec according to Windguru and 3.5ft @ 12sec according to MSW.
I think I might look at MP at 0830. If there's too much for it can nip over the hill to Watergate.

I'll get to MP/WB for just after 9am. Got in at WB last night on way home and it was way too big for MP but looks like it'll be dropping off overnight.
Tried out the 5GF and loved it - holds like it's on rails! Bloody Vulkem STINKS though

Re: 23/24/25 March
I wil hopefully be able to make it, but I may have to take Jacob to the doctor in the morning depending on how he is (if I do I'll be trying to get in somewhere in the afternoon).
I was all set for a surf today but have had to miss it coz he's off from school and Emma's working.

Just had a look on MSW and the swell on the North coast seems to be smaller than first thought but is looking good down your neck of the woods G have you got any spots that pick up the swell without the crowds you would share ?

Re: 23/24/25 March
Got to MP and it looked great! Surfed with Surf Empty and Surfmatt (the latter on a surfboard). By the time we'd changed the tide had zipped out and it was dumping. Watergate was odd, backing off and closing out but eventually snagged some fun lefts. Far from a great session but better than not going in.
I was chatting to one of the standups who said "It's like this all down the coast. We looked at Constantine early on but it was just closing out".
Really....
That's a lot of info from a 20 second glimpse which I promise you is all this forecast is based on. This has to be the best yet. 4-6 foot apparently!!!! This is why I measure waves on body parts and it was shoulder to head.
How was it? I bet the south in the swell drew those lefts out.
South Hams is the district. Lots of breaks.
Both coasts will be on. I would imagine K-Bay might get a sniff although not the longest swell period.
Im looking at a little reef at 7am (that's 6am now time). It a long shot and could be flat so if its not on I'll try a high tide Rivermouth bank. If that falls through too then I'll get round to Chally and wait for the tide to drop off and get a quick hour there jostling with the Sunday worshipers.

Constantine Surf wrote:6.25 a.m. on Friday 23rd March 2012: It is just about as good as it gets in this country this morning! A thumping swell is gracefully looping itself across the Reef just after high tide. The breeze is light and offshore, the sun is gradually burning its way through the early morning mist and the thermometer is already in double digits. Spring has definitely sprung this week! Yep, four to five to six foot waves are cresting and arcing into the bay and every now and again a whomper set is cruising in from way out back, those lines on those sets stretching to the Quies. I would imagine that every break along this raggedy, craggedy little coastline is on fire today!

Re: 23/24/25 March
Glad you got good rides!I had to go to daughter's assembly this morn,so couldn't join you.Surfed Holywell on dropping tide instead, barrelling off shipwreck.Only me.Then off to Droskyn on push, rode some more "monster kegs" as they call them with Gul bodyboard crew. One snapped his board clean in two,and that with a carbon stringer.I suggested he might bottom turn in future.
Looking unreal for another week.

Were your spots unreal? I was just disappointed. Getting really tired of sh*t waves so hoping Sunday works.

Re: 23/24/25 March
I think the problem for us today was we hit mid tide spots at low tide banks. The change in MP was phenomenal; glassy wedges to beach-wide closeouts in about 20 minutes!
Low tide spots would've worked right through.
My last decent session was the day G-Mat 3 bought it!

Re: 23/24/25 March
yeah, usually I avoid low tide like the plague, but below the norm on supersprings the banks are often pristine at H/well and Droskyn.
The BB-ers were sceptical of mat until they realised that it conforms to any wave shape, unlike many of the superstiff PP or Dow core boards they've been persuaded to buy.The old 7-7s were best, bendy and floaty with a good rocker in front of the nose...
