Paipo build

So I've bought some cedar for board build for a winter project, Well oct!
I've gone for cedar planks from eBay £15! There's 5 lengths @ 25x200x1800. So I'm thinking, a board in the region of using two planks to get a 25x400x120-150 then shape it. Going to use a biscuit cutter to get strong joints, but going to cut the 200's into 95's so I don't have one central joint, or do you think maybe a ash or other stringer? Any advice, shapes hints wud be ace!

I'd say keep the shape in the pic,and the tartan tape job.

Hi all. responding on me phone as laptop is dead so please forgive my english.
No need to biscuit joint as a butt joint will be more than strong enough.
I used to glue up with balcotan but they have stopped importing it so just use a good quality pu adhesive
add a stringer if you want but it does not add any structural strenght to either wood of foam blanks until you go over 7ft
My paipos start at 3.5ft but i find best around 4- 4 1/2 ft and between 15 & 19" wide.
rail shape is super important if you want the board to hold in the wave face same applys for entry shape/hull and concave

For my two penneth, I'd say use the rail profile from that one of mine you've got but follow the rail shape through to the tail rather than going to the hard dropped edgevat the tail.

That board also has a very subtle concaves at the nose and tail.

That glue looks the business, just invested in a set of clampo panel clamps from rutlands to ensure that the glue up is square. who's selling cedar!!! I need to get hold of a load for a wigwam project. cheers pj

I did take at look at those clamps and decided Id need a shed first Ill email you the details of the cedar, really sound bloke aswell

Ping me those details Matt, going to put an extension on the workshop tomorrow as I've run out of space because of all the crap I've collected out the skips from the boat yard : )

I just put cedar timber in eBay and a dude in Halifax was selling off cuts!

Hows the build going?

So I've actually managed to do some more on the Paipo, jack No3 planed the edges square, got my biscuit cutter out and cut 8 slots using a size 10 biscuit. It's been gorilla glued marine grade and been braced up by wedging wood from my ceiling on to the edge! Very Cornish!

Disaster, glue turns out it was out of date so as soon as I got it out of the mock clamp, I tested it by trying to snap the joint! Just opened up like my sister! Sticky wet, n dripping like an egg sandwich..... BOOM! But yh actually fun that it went wrong. New glue needed!
