A1 surf forecast is flatness, Windguru forecast flatness and westerley winds, MSW forecast is flatness and westerley winds am I missing something ? This all adds up to flatness in my books

At the moment the Bantham forecast is 3.5ft 15secs from SW with very light NE winds.
I guess we'll have more clarity come Thursday.

Trouble with Thursday is it on the back end of a pulse of swell so will look better than it will be for the weekend if possible call it Friday afternoon which will much more accurate and when we see what the wave bouys are doing

Re: MATMEET 9 - 25/26 Feb, 2012
Hmmm... Looking at the pressure charts the low is tracking north.
http://magicseaweed.com/msw-surf-charts2.php?chart=2&res=750&type=pressure&starttime=
MSW say Bantham will be 3.5ft @ 14sec from the WSW. That's shifted from SW. MSW are pretty good for this neck of the woods generally as they are based in Kingsbridge and have done all their testing on Bamfum. That's a good swell for this way although only for our more exposed spots. Wembury, for example, will be pretty much flat on that.
Will that angle/size get up?
I like Blimp's idea of a late call. Can anybody eyeball it at lunch time on Friday? If its not on then, then we'll blow it. If themes a wave then we're on.

Not if you can eyeball it on Friday avo you're not. Swell looks to be showing by then if it shows so we'll know if Saturday's on.
Can any of you take that on?

It`s an 1 1/2 hour drive both ways for me so no can do on the eyeball side and unlikely anyone will be able to, as K`bay is out in the sticks, the best we can do I reckon is check the bouys on fri. I will put the word out on thurs/fri to see if I can get an eyeball from someone who is out there as I`m working all day fri.

Re: MATMEET 9 - 25/26 Feb, 2012
Also re the pressure charts, my call is there is enough going on b4 it tracks north, as well as other lows coming behind it to keep enough coming up the channel. Remember K`bay is a good amplifier of any swell, however of course if its on up here you will get it down your way normally bigger, but that`s not really the point tho for having a south coast meet is it. Mixing up and sharing the travelling right...

Don't get defensive Pickle.Small is fine, as is wobbly sh*t! Just want to avoid flat if possible, and yes, as UK Mat Surfers and not Kernow Mat Surfers the aim is to spread the love to make it easier for people to get to a meet, especially given the number of you up there.
I think there'll be something looking at Bantham forecast. What's the general rule re Bournemouth cam to K-Bay size? For example, the Bigbury cam showing a foot means Bantham is 3-4ft. Is there a way to work out something similar up there? Basically, can anyone get a glimpse of the sea to get an idea whether the swell is in that bit of the Channel?

Re: MATMEET 9 - 25/26 Feb, 2012
Easy way is to ring the Marine Centre in Kimmeridge but this will make for an afternoon meet or ring the Lulworth firing range warden sometimes helpful
swell doesn,t seem to be making it past Lyme bay and getting up the channel

Yeah similar here I`d say, my call is if there is a wave fri there will be one up here sat. Blimp your comment re nothing getting up the channel, what do you mean, now or in recent weeks as obviously there is nothing now as the groundswell is`nt here yet as for recent weeks, there has been plenty getting up the channel, so no idea what you mean....

Re: MATMEET 9 - 25/26 Feb, 2012
Hi Guys, I'm hoping to do an eyeball Friday around 3.30pm in bournemouth.
Rule of thumb for K bay (ground swell) is less than 10 sec period then it will be half the size of bantham.
10-14 sec around 1ft smaller than bantham
14 sec + 1ft smaller than porthleven (yes porthleven and I have surfed it at 10 -12ft = 20 ft faces)
The place is best on a south south west ground swell, west swell gets filtered by portland bill and a strong NW will do the goods.
Tides are critical.
most winds are ok, but not the best on a west wind.
This is the wave I'm thinking about this weekend if it's on.
G I'll pm my mob later
cheers Joe

Got your PM Tom. They stay in the outbox until read by the recipient. Then they move to sent. Clever!
What's your surname Tom?
