Swell's picking up so should be pretty fine. It looks quite west so if it isn't happening we can shoot north for a quiet sheltered spot so it's win-win. That said, it was waist to chest today and the direction was the same and that swell's jumping up.

Re: Tuesday 11th - Sunday 16th Dec, 2012
Well,I've surfed 9 sessions in 6 days, but that was the most enjoyable.Great to see everyone having a laugh, and switching mats at will.Forgot to pass on mine to Dan at end, sorry my Lord Zumba!
Ta to G for provoking the stoke, and providing me with something to drink in the bath right now!I thought P'noe Grigio was the elusive lefthand reefbreak....
Come on!Let's make sure we meet again before the New Year.
Ta to James for the lift too.
Looking at forecast tomorrow, may hit South Coast further down.Henry,if you fancy a lift from Truro, let me know.
Was thinking of this song as I was crossing the raging torrent in me Crocs.Keeps the birds happy while you're matting and they're joining the sheeple Xmas browsing too...

Yeah that was a wicked mini-meet. G-Mat12 was a blast and your standard was pretty fly Ian.
I had a quick look at the rivermouth on the way back. Saw some cranking barrels closing-out, looked a bit hairy at low but could have been nice at mid-tide today. Porthgwidden and shitpipe were on by the looks of it too.

St Day? I had no idea you were into motorsport
Mate you should have come to the island today - even if you had to pedal there on your folder
It was producing one of the best lefts I've ever seen. Clean as a whistle.

Which Island's that?
I might sneak a quick one tomorrow on the north although my throat thing seems to have become a chest thing so I'll see.

Shitpipe, St Ives. Takes a swell of this magnitude to get it working a crisp chest-high left. Swell seems to be fading now so it may not produce tomorrow

Re: Tuesday 11th - Sunday 16th Dec, 2012
K bay was epic Sunday started off on the bench which was being completley covered by the waves lots of water moving about 30 minute paddle against the rip just to get in position and only me out there waves 8ft to double overhead but holding there shape niceley had some very long rides but was taking 20 minute paddle to get back out again last one I caught was a monster but by now the tide was dropping out making it very sketchy and a lot more waves were starting to close out so I went and surfed the bay which was 4-6ft a little on the fat side but still long rides with no more than 6 out at any time.

Size of the waves is always a bit of a guessing game but go on to MSW take a look at the K bay photos , look at the highest rated photos second row righ hand corner it was taken on the 21st Febuary 2011 and it was the last time I surfed the Bench at simalar size that day only got three waves in 3 hours. One wipeout straightened my coiled bodyboard leash.Spent most of my session craping myself if I wiped out there was no way I was going to keep hold of my mat , once you were on a wave you wanted a nother one no matter how stupid it was to be out there on my own

Ha! Rad!
One of those sessions that you enjoy most in retrospect. Good work.
You're right on the guessing game. I just go for body parts as a rough estimate but more clear than "feet". "Feet" just become a dick swinging exercise where the most hardcore surfer is the one using the smallest number of feet to describe the biggest wave. Unfortunately it makes the foot utterly meaningless as a unit of measurement.
I surfed a quiet reef up here a while back. Saffa kept calling the overhead waves "two feet". Thing is, he kept saying "yeah it's two feet" randomly throughout the session completely out of context so was just trying to show us his balls...
We were enormously impressed...

Re: Tuesday 11th - Sunday 16th Dec, 2012
If I am honest quite happy to spend the rest of my life surfing 4ft clean which I think is ideal size to surf. We don,t get many big days down here and I am not even sure going out and surfing in big conditions is anything to do with surfing
