Some reasonable swell around this week. 25ft 18secs at one point I think! Add that to howling westerly winds and we'll see some rarities working I reckon.

Looking forward to hearing what people get into.

Basic rule of thumb for Pentewan:

Ground swell south of southwest over 7ft with period of 12secs plus. A good double check is to look at the Bantham forecast on MSW and to click the estimated wave height. You want this to be 10ft "Double Overhead" or more. The MSW bunch are in Kingsbridge and the Bantham prediction is fairly reliable.

Otherwise, the day after an easterly gale.

Don't forget, thigh high is big enough for fun at Pentewan as long as its offshore.

Beat me to it G, and in a somewhat more specific style!

I'm off to London for an early Christmas with the family tomorrow so not likely to get in for another week (that'll be 16 days and counting - breakdown territory). That said, I'm taking my mat and fins just in case I can get up to Cromer for a day!

Should be heading off mid-morning tomorrow, but if I can sneak away from daddy daycare duty earlier might check out Pentewan in the howling wind!

My tips for central south coasts are:

    Lulworth Cove
    Mupe Bay
    Durlstone point
    Swanage
    Bournemouth pier (very busy)
Avon Beach - photos under wahhhoooooo

but sssssshhhhhhhhhh keep it under your hat

    cheers pj
