Looks like a bit of a wave on the north coast this weekend. Onshore but super light on Friday then offshores Sat/Sun. Who's up for what?

I'll be surfing Friday and Saturday. Early for both but could squeeze a second session in Friday.

it would be great to meet!
Early Saturday is looking calm at present... and If Sunday allows I'm in. Friday doesn't look so good any more but I would too.
Low on Sat at 6.20 am and High at 12.40... 3-4' suits me as I am still in rehab!
Where are the banks? I haven't surfed for 6 months! I'm bouncing already. bounce

I'm up to my arse in DIY at the moment. Not even spot T can tempt me. The most I can manage is a quick dip at Widdy. Looking forward to next weekend though.

Post  Surfmatt Sun Apr 15, 2012 1:54 am

Initially I wasn't going to bother with a dawny this morning having had to get up at 05:30 for the last three mornings No . I was thinking that the swell forecast wasn't looking that great and it would probably equate to 1-2ft dribble Sad . Then I watched David's vid which swayed me slightly, and then I spoke with Gman who who assured me that the waves were going to be waist-chest-high and glassy! So I thought OK i'll do it! Very Happy

So I get up at 04:30, drive for the best part of an hour and arrive in the car park at Holywell where I meet up with Gman and Ian (and later Juan). Once we're suited and walking down the beach, dawn breaking, we soon realise that the surf is in fact 1-2ft dribble Sad ! But we persevere, bolstering each other's enthusiasm with phrases such as "this will get better on the push"!?

We paddle out (into the dribble) and have one or two weak dribbly waves hoping that the surf will improve as the tide pushes......

Thankfully it did improve quite a bit with some cheeky waist-chest high sets coming through that were holding up nicely with bowling sections and re-forms on the inside to be had cheers .

Maybe it was because of my low expectations but I ended up really enjoying the session and having some good lefts and rights. Then I was treated to apres coffee courtesy of Ian, and the most amazingly delicious home-made chocolate made by Juan. Add to that the usual comradary and banter that us matters seem to enjoy, and all-in-all it turned out to be a great session (worth getting up early for (for the chocolate alone))!

Thanks guys for making this morning yet another fun, memorable mat session sunny .

I thought it might have turned out better too at first, especially after that pre-sesh pump video!
But when we moved down the beach and into the sunlight and offshores and away from the rip it was memorable. I look forward to returning there with more swell. And great to see each of you guys flying in turn.
Clean small sets, beautiful empty spot, warm company, no stress, no cameras either, is what I most value.
After session herbal tea, and 'hippy' chocolate at Ian's perfect surfshack did it for me...
My arm is feeling stoked: looser, and stronger, after these two sessions. Thanks again, more soon, Juan

That 3 necked guitar is ridiculous!

Great fun that. I think everyone had some good waves today. It really glassed up at the end. The chocolate was something else. Definite cottage industry for Juan to run out of Lerryn that one.

On a personal note, I was stoked with how Kenneth went in the tiddlers. cheers

Still proper stoked on that session. I think it's finally sunk in for me that wave quality seldom correlates to how much fun I have. It's a factor but certainly not everything.
