The Fourth Gear Flyer Omni Blue Streak is with us...

The Omni is the newest 4GF model! It takes the look and feel of the traditional square-tailed surf mat and tweaks it to new levels. Many of the worlds best mat surfers, including George Greenough, have ridden the Omni and the feedback has been unanimous that it really is something special. Sitting between the Standard and the Fatty in terms of width, The Omni is an extremely versatile mat (hence the name)... Well-suited to a wide range of rider size and wave size, this has to be the closest thing to the all-in-one mat!

While I agree with your sentiments on consumerism as a whole, we would all be on Surfoplanes were it not for ongoing design innovation.

Yep,I think I vaguely grasp that concept.Just seen too many people sliding out and not getting full enjoyment out of their rides lately, cos they're persuaded to go for a certain model of mat, which patently don't work.
A lot of us started matting to avoid the quiver mentality.
    Variable inflation and all that.
Let's not forget the goal of simplicity,eh?We don't want to end up saying" Oh,I wish I had taken out such-and-such a mat instead" at the end of a session...

    Hear hear.

Had a similar discussion with Phil on that with Sinclario making the exact same point. I agreed with him too. The ultimate Nirvana for any surfcraft is the one that does it all. That's why I'm as excited as I am about this model in particular. The proof will be in the pudding of your average matter of course but the feedback form George Greenough was that he didn't have any suggestions on how to improve it.

    That's a first!

One mat also takes away one variable when you have a sh*t session too! Shocked

If you soak a standard b/s in olive oil and leave in the boot for 2 hours its never quite the same Laughing

I generaly soak mine in Cote de Rhone or when abroad Rum.
I have or will have three mats Standard,Fatty and when it arrives the Omni, being 6',14 stone and 57 I think this covers all my needs, it is much differant for you younger fitter lads who get in the water on almost a daily basis I find weight to wave size is a major point where you are much lighter and fitter the greater chance of a one mat quiver exists.
    I do take Ians point.
What did it for me as G pointed out was GG's remark or is this PG's amazing sales technique! Very Happy
I lied I have a classic which was my first mat just if I fancy going old school Cool .

The oil was from when someone stashed a packed of artichoke hearts in my bag, not something we normally take on picnics Neutral

I know what Ian means though my standard was the only mat I tend to ride, the RT tracker hardly gets used these days.

I am with Ian on this one went from a standard with canvas top to a Fatty with a gripped deck and this was a noticeable improvement then I went and bought a Neumatic hoping this would take my mat riding a notch up but so far the Nuematic has been a major disapointment and it has been out in lots of different conditions so I know it is not the choss I normaily ride here on the south coast.I now surf one session on the fatty and one on the Nuematic and the Fatty is a clear winner the only thing I would say is I might not be a good enought mat rider to get the best out of the Nuematic but at the moment if someone offered me the right money it would go
