Barbados Mat Classic Empty Barbados Mat Classic

Post  stu Mon Dec 17, 2012 9:17 pm

Morning all just got back from the Barbados Mat Classic at South Point, 30 degree air 29 degree water temp Cool .
Lots of fun out of 14 days got 8 days surf 2-5', Mats used Omni and Fatty still cant make up my mind which I prefer as they are very differnt in feel the Omni I think is the faster of the two but the fatty has more glide but both work so well.
Big down side surfing Blue Streaks in board shorts and rash vest is you cant move around on the mat as you would in a wetsuit so you have to change the way you take off, also sitting on the mat and then pulling it up to take off the Vulkrum works like a bloody epilator on the inside of your thighs and after 2/3 hours in the water f*ck are you sore! Shocked
The locals are still amazed that the mats work and you get barreld and head dips good vibes in the water and alot of banter.
Didnt surf Soupbowl or Palors as this was round 6/8' and like a bloody zoo and I aint that water fit!
Glad I missed all the realy cold weather but I am paying for it now with the cold and damp Sad
You boys look like you have had good waves, have a good Christmas to all and a mega New year.
    Stu.
Interesting just picked up Robins account of the Omni and he had a similar problem in board shorts but make no mention of the soreness but there again he is an Aussie! Laughing
