After long enjoying Des Constantine's"3 foot crystalline peaks marching majestically over a vermillion vista",here's another peach from Anne's Cottaging Shop

I went to Perran, tiny dribbling shorebreak, not even mattable.Meanwhile,Praa was overhead but howling onshore.
So,off to Roseland tomorrow to chance a reef.Come with!

I'd say about 25 at pentewan in the same spot, 15 at Gorran. Didn't have the 5gf with me (picked up wrong box - gutted) so on the b/s standard. Ended up deflating quite a bit close to high tide when reform back off the wall made it lumpy bumpy. Got drilled a couple of times close to wall.

Said reef will be cracking Piskian!!!

Yep,it's interesting alright!Still can't quite figure out how Pentewan's such a swell magnet.Think that seabed drops off dramatically there,so swell comes right in and hits the shorebreak bars, ala Parcurno.Hence it was used for chinaclay port, plenty of room for deep draught vessels.
That chinaclay granular sand gets in the fins and weighs me down though!Especially aggravating with my fractured little toe...
This was embedded in my head today,too...

Got in there yesterday at near dead low, lot of water moving around with three boarders in, was suprised not more, still not too sure of best tidal stage to surf? can happily report some big drops and plenty of beatings with one long swim to retrieve mat.Would be happy for any advice on best state of tide to surf this spot as still not sure, was a bit unexpected though, glad I checked the web cam Surprised

You need to keep an eye here mate. We saw that coming from miles off! Wink

Basically, mid tide. Low tide its best to head to the far south end. there's a nice pitching right breaks off the point there. Dead low can close out the beach though.

On a high tide you'll find a left by the harbour which is super sucky, depending on the position of the river. Struggles on big swells like yesterday though. When its like that, the reef Ian surfed is best a high tide. That's not for posting publicly though.

    Smile
