Did not have a problem with surfing them on a mat all the problems came with getting in and out.Had enough of my session and was paddling in when must of got a reform on the head and lost me mat luckily came up not far from me and caught up with it now looking for likeley spot to get out. Reef now well covered with water saw a rock outcrop sitting out at the edge and made for that just got my hand on it when got caught by another wave but time it gave me a bit of working over ,hung on till the next lull and scrambled out. No damage to my mat but had cuts on my wrist and hand and some holes in my wetsuit.Getting in was another mare walking in with fins on one minute in 6 inches of water the next finding youself in two foot only to start paddling to find yourself in only a foot of water. Had thought about taking my fins off and trying to get out without them on.Any hints and tips welcome

Re: Getting in and out at reefs
That Sir is a great question. I don't really have an answer other than I protect the mat before myself as I'll heal and the mat won't!
Fins are always a problem, especially when you go with longer ones. I wouldn't take them off personally because you end up with both hands full and if you wind up back in the drink your finless... With both hands full!!!
My only tip is take time to work out your exit before you get in. I'm as keen as you to hear tips for making it easy from someone.
Cheers
