    Production has started.

Going to be a 4 pontoon number. Basically a scaled up version of Webbo's mat but with a 70 denier deck.

I don't really dig wax on mats. I just end up in a salty, sticky mess!

    Shocked

I tested the PG wax treatment but the material is really light even for a 70d so there's just nowhere for the wax to soak. it just kinda goes shiny and slippery.

I'm going for super-light Vulkem on my mats. Much lighter than you'd sell as its not so durable. This mat's gonna be navy blue with white lettering and tan coloured grip.

For comparison. The red mat is about the size of a 4GF Standard.

All finished. The grip is actually a caramel colour, rather than cream as it appears in the pic.

    Cheers

Right then... Mixed thoughts but mostly good.

Basically, I think I've over-cooked the central pontoon. I did toy with lowering the middle I-Beams when designing and that would have been the best to get a good all-round mat. It doesn't hold that well as a result.

    BUT

I have G-Mat 7 for hold. The benefit of the thicker middle is that the transition from rail-to-rail is super smooth. Not a hint of speed lost anywhere. Plus, the volume means glide. In fact, it means gliiiiiiiiiiiide.

    Smile

I made this as a summer mat for weak dribbly waves and it will eat them up. To be honest, the sets today were wedgy and steep and it managed, although these aren't the conditions I would use it for.

So. 80% happy. If I made another I'd change it but it is a great option in a quiver.
